David Lesniaski

Director of Music

I'm elated to come to Gethsemane Episcopal Church. I've been the music director at St. James Episcopal on the Parkway, and, before that, served as organist or music director in Methodist, Catholic and Lutheran churches, despite graduating from a Quaker college (Haverford College). My music degrees are in theory and composition (DMA, University of Arizona; MM, University of Kansas) and I also hold the MLIS from the University of Minnesota … which explains my other career as a librarian and teacher. I'm currently an Associate Professor in the Master of Library and Information Science program at St. Catherine University; before that, I was on the library faculty at St. Olaf College where I served in several different capacities, including that of co-director. I've also worked at the U of M, and had a Fulbright to Athens (Greece) where I helped establish a research-level music library. I probably should have a spiffy website devoted to my music, but I don't: if you're interested, here are links to a few sites where I've posted some of my music (Score Exchange and Omeka). Lisa Daniels, my spouse, and I live in a very small house in Arden Hills that we share with various gregarious critters who don't like to live outside in winter.

It's great to be here and I look forward to making music with you all.
