Shelf of Hope
The Shelf of Hope is our outreach to those in the downtown community who experience food insecurity. We team with Second Harvest to provide fresh and packaged foods on Wednesdays from 10:00 – 1:00 to those in need. In a normal week, we service about 100 clients. We also know that this translates to around 300 pe0ple served weekly, as many clients obtain food for their families. If you wish to be part of this ministry, please contact Jim Cunningham or Kathy Hoglund.
On Tuesday evenings, volunteers pick up baked goods from Panera on Nicollet Mall in Downtown Minneapolis and drop them off at Gethsemane for distribution on Wednesday via the Shelf of Hope. Currently, volunteers make the pick up one time per month. We currently need a volunteer who would be willing to pick up on the months that have a 5th Tuesday, or would be willing to substitute in case of schedule conflicts or illness. Contact Wyn Knittel for details.
